Biography

Originally from northern Michigan, Carey studied jazz performance at North Texas State University, playing first trumpet in the prestigious one o’clock lab band. After graduating, he moved to Chicago to pursue his master’s degree and work into the city’s music scene.

His professional experience includes nine tours with Frank Sinatra, live performances with Barbra Streisand, Seal, Sting, and others, and television credits with Peter Cetera, Brian Wilson, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, and many more.

Carey has also worked steadily in musical theatre, playing dozens of shows in downtown Chicago, at the Drury Lane Theatre, and other regional theatres.

Trumpet

As an instrumentalist, Carey plays in all styles from classical to jazz; lead trumpet and section player. He’s played lead trumpet on many pre-Broadway productions, including The Producers, The Cher Show, Tootsie, and On Your Feet. He has also performed with Frank Sinatra, Carrie Underwood, Henry Mancini, and countless others.

 

Arranging & Producing

Carey Deadman has been arranging and orchestrating for radio, film and television, advertising, and TV specials for more than three decades—including work with PBS “Soundstage”, Eddie Bauer, McDonald’s, State Farm, and UPS, to name a few.

He has produced recording projects for artists including Mark Tremonti, Josie Falbo, Tony Andriacchi, plus others.
